OK, maybe not the “Death of the Yellow Pages” quite yet, but certainly the “Death Watch” has begun. No doubt about it, the effectiveness of the printed Yellow Pages has dropped dramatically over the last few years!
You might not know it, but Idearc, Inc., the largest Yellow Page publisher in the United States, recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Certainly no surprise as Idearc’s profits were down almost 60% in just the last 12 months. Idearc was the old Verizon Yellow Pages that was spun off in 2006 as it was clear even then that the glory days of big, wasteful, expensive print yellow pages was coming to an end.
